If you have only been to Istanbul and/or Ehpesus from a cruise ship, you are seeing the very tip of the ‘iceberg’ (or sand dune) of this rich, diverse and amazing country.
Turkey is magic – It cannot help itself in that regard. I’ve spent time at historic sites and eclectic ruins, like Troy, Pergamom, Perge and Aspendos, and in the diversified cities from conservative Konya to the prosperous ski town of Bursa in the North. My travels took me on a huge circle that started in Istanbul, traveling south, then east to encompass as far as Kayseri and central Antalya, better known as the fairy chimneys of Cappadocia. I was on all the bodies of water that surround Turkey on one means of transport or another, including the sluggish car/bus ferries crossing the Sea of Marmara to the swift, small gullets that cruise the Med at Antalya.
Given the many civilizations that occupied this country, a trip to Turkey is a dip in the deep lake of history from which you come out all the richer. Here was Smyrna, Antioch, Lycium, Mesopotamia, and the land of the Amazons, the Hittites, Alexander, Seljuk Turks, et al. When you are standing next to a lion’s den – the real thing – in Aspendos, and realize that from here were released lions and other animals who were set against beastiarii – men specially trained to fight animals – you lose a sense of time and you swear you can hear the roar of the amphitheater crowds.
Please contact me to plan the perfect custom tailored tour or help you locate the best escorted tour for your needs and budget. I fell in love with this often overlooked country. I can share some of my firsthand experience with you and offer ‘insider’ travel tips that will make your trip the more exciting experience!

Turkey has various regions to discover along with multiple cultures. It is always best to start your visit in the beautiful city of Istanbul that sits on the banks of the Bosphorus. Its architecture, art, culture, nightlife, cuisine and more will keep you occupied during your stay. Also venture to Cappadocia a designated World Heritage Site where the land has been shaped into unusual forms. And a visit to Ephesus will be the highlight of your visit. Once the commercial center of the ancient world it was once considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
Turkey has numerous types of accommodations, international cuisine and a range of activities to choose from. Whether you visit via a cruise ship or decide to tour the country more in-depth you will return home knowing that it was one of the finest journey’s you have ever experience. It would be my pleasure to arrange your adventure and I look forward to hearing from you.
