Travel In The Middle East, Egypt & Turkey:
Riches of the Past, Present & Future
For many of us from the Western World, the Middle East and Turkey conjure images of hot and dry exotic lands, and in more recent years, a culture that seems in some ways antithetical to ours.
We often paint a large and diverse area of the planet with a very broad, unwashed brush, and it's not so accurate. Savvy travelers have always been attracted to visit here for many worthwhile reasons, both to appreciate the treasures found here, and to better understand what may seem so "foreign" and distant.
For those of Christian, Jewish or Moslem faiths, the Middle East is the birthplace of their religions. Israel is a special place for many, and is an exciting destination politically, socially, and spiritually. There is no shortage of awe-inpsiring monuments and sacred sites in Israel.
It goes without saying Egypt holds incredible attraction as one of the top experiences to visit for its antiquities (up to 1/3rd of the world's entire cache), history and ancient culture. (While Egypt is part of Africa, it's often included as part of a Middle Eastern itinerary - our apology to purists for having it listed here!) Consider a short stay at a Red Sea beach resort afterwards!
"'Epoustouflant' is the French word for breathtaking. The people in Egypt took breathtaking care of me - epoustouflant--Amazing. Marwa, my guide in Cairo was So Lovely .... Extremely warm hearted...The Nile Cruise was beautiful - Asa, the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. I will definitely suggest to friends that they visit Egypt. And I know if they call you, which I will strongly recommend, they will be well taken care of." Vic S.
Jordan holds vast reaches for the inquiring mind, along with some of the world's spectacular sites, including Petra, one of the world's wonders, and Jerash, one of the best preserved ancient Roman cities.
Dubai has been a hotbed of economic growth and wealth, and is one of the world's "hot" destinations. It is definitely a glimpse into the future.
While straddling Europe and the Middle East, Turkey, the cradle of 17 civilizations, nearly stands alone -- not really the Middle East and not really Europe. The Turks offer friendship and a rich cultural heritage -- from the bazaars and riches of Istanbul to the historic ruins of Ephesus, the largest Greco-Roman site in the world; the caves and unique rock formations of Cappadocia; and beyond.
